Is it just like a mini computer? Or is it a cell phone and you have to load it with airtime/credit in order to surf the internet?

Mine is like a mini computer (I have the curve) but you do have to pay for usage, of course, that having been said – if you’re in a McDonalds or anywhere that has wifi, you can hook up to their wifi and surf for free. It’s like any ISP though.

yes and no, all smart phone such as blackberry has a similar, yet weaker version of computer hardware, but the system itself, to use the network service such as browser, depends on the local providers, some use credit, while other can use fixed monthly payment, it doesn’t matter as long as those providers pay to the main provider itself, RIM co. in Canada.

It’s mostly like a phone, you can text and e-mail however you can also use the internet. I’m not sure if there are any other ways but what I do is I have a plan that I pay every month that allows me a certain amount of time using the internet. And if you go over your amount, you simply pay more.

I not sure if you can use pay-as-you-go with blackberries so I would suggest you get a monthly plan and then you know how much/long you can use the internet on it for.

I personally use it a fair amount and I have always been under my amount and I pay 50$ a month.

But probably the best way to know for sure is to go into the store and talk directly to someone because they will be the most knowledgeable about this.

    I hope this helps!

A BlackBerry is like a mini computer. You can do emails, surf the web, have music, pictures, videos, tons of memory. Save your favorite websites, you can pretty much do anything and everything on the phone. Including make calls, text messaging picture sharing.

When you get the BB you also get something called a data package (I pay monthly for mine it’s included in my phone bill) on the data package I have, I have unlimited email, text, and everything else. My phone has it’s own IP address and I can even use WiFi on it.

My bill comes to about $100 or so every month but it’s like I have access to everything I need and could want right in my hand. Not to mentions tons of apps, some of which I don’t even use or need but are avaible. And games which are good when on long trips or bored at the office.
