How hard is it to surf on an alaia surfboard?

How hard would it be for someone who JUST learned how to surf to surf on an alaia board? Can it be done? Advice?
an alaia board is considered one of the hardest style of surfboards to ride, so i wouldnt just jump on one. you should work your way down to smaller boards, and once your a REALLY good shortboarder, try out the alaia, and you might like it.
